In this tutorial I will take you on a step by step guide to creating an angelic background via PSP. This tutorial works very well when creating textures. Remember to link back if this helps you, and also to contact me if you have further problems.

First, create a new image sized 437 x 224. Fill it with any gradient. I'm using light colours, this tutorial will also work better if you use a light colour.

Select the smudge brush (this is two beneath the brush tool, press an arrow to change it to the correct setting), then match you settings to mine:
Size: 43
Hardness: 50
Opacity: 75
Step: 25
Desity & Thickness: 100
Rotation: 0
Now go crazy, smudge your image everywhere and in any direction.

Go to Adjust -> Blur -> Motion Blur and blur it at 95 Degrees and 100%. Then, get a random texture, the texture I'm using is from Randomiss-Designs.Com, paste it over your image as a new layer.

Set than layer to Screen at 100%; then merge all of your layers together. Now, use the texture to the right, again from Randomiss Designs; and paste it over your image as a new layer.

Set than layer to Screen at 100%; then merge all of your layers together. Now, use the texture to the left, from the same place and paste it over your image as a new layer.

Set than layer to Screen at 100%; that was our last texture. Phew. Do the same Motion Blur step as I did in earlier. Then go to Adjust -> Blur -> Gaussion Blur -> blur it at 5.59% and you're done!
