Glossy Text

In this very quick, easy and simple tutorial I will take you on a step by step guide to creating 'glossy text'. This effect works very well on text you'd like to add to layouts and I use it all the time.

To begin, create the text that you'd like to 'gloss up'. The text I'm using can be displayed on the right.

To begin, duplicate your base layer. Then take () tool and match your settings to mine below:
Selection type: Point to point
Mode: Replace
Feather: 0
Smoothing: 15
Anti-alias: Ticked

Now, draw any random shape on the top half of your text.

Next, go to Adjust > Brightness and Contrast > Brightness/Contrast. Match your settings to mine:
Brightness: 255
Contrast: Doesn't really matter, any number.
Press OK, then press CTRL+D to lock all the dots into place.

Set that duplicated layer to Normal at 38%. Then merge all of your layers visible and you're done!
