Creating a Notebook Template

In this tutorial I will teach you how the make a notebook template from scratch. I used this method in this version of Skylish (which you can learn to create here.

To begin, open up a new blank transparent image of a small size, I'm going to size mine 64 x 42. First we're going to fill the background in, I've filled mine with the colour #EFEFEF. Then we're going to take () tool with the colour #DBDBDB, and simply draw two lines on our image: one in the middle and one at the very bottom. You need to use () tool to continually measure it so that it is perfect, it may include have to chop your image or make it bigger. Once you're done you should have a simple ready-to-use pattern like mine on the right.

Now that we've made our main pattern, we're going to create a new blank image. I'm going to size mine 718 x 365.

Take the fill tool and click on your top pallet, a box should pop up with the labels: "Colour", "Gradient" and "Pattern" listed at the top. Click on "Pattern", choose the pattern we just created, and fill in your blank image. Then, take ( tool and do the following:
Cross out your first pallet
Change your second pallets colour to #EFEFEF
Choose the shape "rectangle"
Draw two long boxes at either side of your image, the sizes don't have to be perfect. Look to the left for an example.

Merge all of your layers visible. Taking () tool again, draw a margin line down on the left. Margins can be any colour, so you pick. Merge all of your layers visible again.

Almost done! Take the Selection tool and choose "circle". Draw a circle in the top left, then press "delete". Repeat this down the left hand side. Merge all your layers visible - and you're done!!

(OPTIONAL) - Using your pen tool at a size of around 13, and a hardness of about 70, you can create a new layer and draw lines coming out of the circles like some notebooks have. It takes a lot of time and precision to get those lines just right.
