Cover Ups

I’m back from my little trip up in the Alps, feeling refreshed and ready to come up with new ideas for the blog! A good 70 of us flew up to Geneva (then got a coach up to Chamonix in France), for what was – I guess – the ‘work trip’ of the year. It was actually my first time skiing (most people from my work are seasoned skiiers), so I took a few lessons with another beginner and also spent some time practicing myself. Holidays in the cold and snow aren’t necesarilly my go-to (hey, I’m African), but I had such a good time that I actually already can’t wait for my next ski trip.

The last time I had a shoot (and took the photos above), I just did not factor in the fact that it was winter… at all. So before I was out of the door, with my stuff already packed, I just started throwing any cover ups I could into my bag that would help make me feel a little more at ease (at 4 degrees celcius, I was terrified). I ended up throwing this All Saints shirt into the mix, not knowing if it would even suit the outfit, but I actually think the tone made the outfit a lot more interesting. This outfit I otherwise wore a few weeks ago to a Drake concert, the top I made a bee-line for at Missguided and purchased in the boxing day sales, it actually is a little bit more ‘risque’ than what I usually go for, but I’ve been switching things up recently and stepping a little bit further out of my comfort zone with regards to outfits, and really liking the outcome. The glasses were a Givenchy slurge because sometimes… treat yo’ self! It definitely seemed a little silly to my boyfriend when I purchased these in the middle of the winter, but if it helps I’m planning a trip to somewhere in Southern Europe (possibly Spain) in the next month and a half or so, where they’ll definitely get some good use.

Have a wonderfullyyyy productive week – I’ll be back with one of my more chatty posts on Thursday!
