Black and White

As you can see – I’ve got braids! I literally grew up on braids and decided to break away from them in Year 12 when my hairstyles quick became weave, after weave, after weave. It feels good to go back to my roots and to rock something that represents where I’m from a little more. I plan to do a Ways to Style Box Braids post soon, so definitely look out for that.

As always, these photos were shot by my friend Andre.

I’ve been wanting to get a new coat for a while, and I picked this one up in TopShop the other week – it is literally, down to every detail, exactly the type of coat I was looking for; I’ve been wearing it religiously since I purchased it. These knee highs are also truly an addiction of mine, and were purchased from Zara – I’ve styled them on this blog quite a lot. Knee highs have really come back into style this winter, and if I can, at least before it gets warm again, I’d love to get my hands on a pair of heeled knee highs.

The coat really adds a more tomboy-ish touch to all of my outfits, which is an interesting change given that I’m usually dressed quite girly. If you were to switch these knee highs for heeled ankle boots, and the coat for a fur-collar coat, it’ll will quickly be transformed into a much more girly outfit.

I’ve been feeling really nostalgic about life recently. I honestly feel that starting in your career (which I’ll be doing in the next few months), is when real life really begins… you start paving the way for what will hopefully be years of success behind you. You really start to put all that you’ve spent 21 years of education into practice, and start to create what will for some people be a legacy. It has definitely got me feeling scared, excited and most of all – old.

Hope you like this outfit!

  1. You look lovely with braids! And that coat is awesome!

Starting full time work is fun, but also a lot more difficult than uni. I miss having so much time off. But it’s definitely great knowing your degree has got you somewhere. Good luck!
