I guess I would describe my style and simple, quite girly but very wearable. One thing my photographer Marianne always says to me is that the outfits I wear are ‘realistic’, i.e. I’m really not just dressing up from the ‘gram, these are looks I would genuinely wear out and about on a daily basis (well, without the heels most of the time). I would like to sit here and say that I think carefully about each of the outfits I put together – as I know that some people literally plan their outfit shoots weeks in advance – but honestly, I usually just naturally grow my wardrobe through new buys or gifts from brands, and the day before a shoot mix and match my latest items, try them on, pack them up and shoot them. Some thought provoking pieces mixed in with shoppable links and a few aesthetics – below are my 2017 Style Favourites…

Back in June I was invited down to the Quiz Clothing Stratford store opening and gifted a piece I desired from the store to wear down to the event. If you know me you know that I love jumpsuits so I was immediately drawn to this piece when I browsed through their summer collection. If I’m being honest I like jumpsuits because I like the way they make my body look – they of manage to suck you in in all the right places whilst still being super classy and they can be dressed down if you so wish. I’m a curvy gal and find that sometimes jumpsuits are the best way to show this off.

This look right here was actually one of my most popular – if not my most popular – from 2017. And I posted it right at the start of the year. That’s the weird thing about social media sometimes – you don’t always know what’s going to work out and sometimes when certain things get popular, you don’t actually know why. Occasionally you might think “my readers are going to love this!” and you’re left with an uncomfortable silence, and sometimes you’re very “meh” and things blow up more than expected. But because ya’ll loved this one – I love it too!

Another popular one this year was this black playsuit look that I teamed up with a collaborative post for vintage clothing store Rokit. Although I discussed vintage fashion in the blog post this look was pretty trendy and “current” – the bomber, the choker, the heeled sandals – it really played on all the latest trends.

Throwing in something more recent now with a look posted just the other day. I’ve never actually worn just one brand head to toe but I mean it when I say that Debenhams did THAT. I really had a mad shopping spree with my Debenhams vouchers gifted by the lovely team and ended up purchasing number of items – from a faux fur coat to gloves to a soap holder – I did not hold back. The Debenhams team were so lovely and really did give us bloggers the VIP treatment – check out the post to read more about this collaboration.

I look pretty chilled here and very spring appropriate – but what you can’t see is that I was actually crying inside taking these photos. Style took over common sense to consider the actual weather, and on this Jan/Feb day it was absolutely, painfully freezing. I definitely learned my lesson from here on out. My favourite aspect of this outfit has to be the colours/fabrics – the denim over the white with the khaki sock boots (and the green in the photograph) made for a good match for me.

All photos by the amazing Marianna Olaleye – she the real MVP.
